Companies owned by local entities

The Mediobanca Research Department compiles balance-sheet data for the main local publicly-owned companies as part of its research on Leading Italian Companies. Since 2005 it has carried out detailed surveys of companies owned by the largest Italian municipal councils (Rome, Milan, Turin, Naples, Bologna and Brescia) on behalf of the Civicum Foundation. The surveys published by the Foundation have covered operating issues such as costs, quality and efficiency, and financial aspects (balance sheets). The 2005-09 editions of the survey may be downloaded from the Foundation’s site at www.civicum.it.
